My name is Sam Kauppila. I am 13 years old and I attend Woodland Middle School. I decided to blog about Hockey because I do not think it gets as much attention as Baseball, Basketball or Football. I feel that I am well certified to blog about this topic because I myself play Hockey on Team Illinois and have known the rules and tricks of hockey for many years.
I would like to start off with the best of the best in the NHL right now. There is three people tied for the league leaders in scoring. Those people are Steven Stamkos, Alexander Ovechkin, and Sidney Crosby who all have 51 goals. Although they are the leaders in scoring, there is one man who leads the league in points. That man is Henrik Sedin. He has racked up a total of 112 points. There is something odd about Henrik Sedin. He has a twin brother Daniel Sedin who plays on the same team and same line as him.
Now i would like to talk about the big men on the blue line. The defensmen. The defensman's job is to make sure that nobody gets passed them or near the goalie. They also have some of the hardest shots in the game. One of the top defensman in the game is Mike Green. In only 75 games he scored 19 goals and had 57 assists. I dont know about you, but those are some amazing stats. I would also like to tell you about the biggest man to ever play in the NHL. His name is Zdeno Chara. He stands at a height of 6ft. 9in. off of the ice, But on the ice he stands at somewhere around 7 to 7ft. 2 in. He is the big man on campus.
Last but not least I would like to talk about some of the brick walls. Yes, I am talking about the goalies. The three goalies with the best records are Martin Brodeur, Evgeni Nabokov, and Ilya Bryzgalov. Although they have the most wins. There are three other goalies with the best save percentages. Those guys are Ryan Miller, Jonathan Quick, and Roberto Luongo. These men are crucial to their teams. Without good goaltending a team would be nothing. Good goaltending can bring a team all the way to Lord Stanley otherwise known as the Stanley Cup.
